Module 3 · Website Architecture & Copy
Plan your pages, copy & design
Stage 2. Now we plan the actual website — every page, every section, the real words, and how each part should look — before a single thing is built. This is the difference between a generic template and a site that’s truly yours.

How to Teach Claude to Write Content Like You
The big picture
Using your brand-strategy.md, Claude will create a second document: site-architecture.md. It maps your sitemap, lays out your homepage and every internal page section by section, writes the final copy for each section in your brand voice, and adds plain-English design instructions for each one. When this is done, building the site is almost just “follow the plan.”
What a homepage that converts actually does
Claude will propose a sitemap and a homepage plan — and your review is only meaningful if you know what “good” looks like. A homepage that sells isn’t a brochure; it walks a visitor down a short, clear path. Top to bottom, it usually goes:
1HeroWhat you do, who it’s for, and one clear button — above the fold
2Problem → SolutionName the pain they feel, then how you fix it
3ServicesWhat you offer, in plain terms
4ProofTestimonials, credentials, logos — reasons to trust you
5Final call-to-actionMake the next step obvious and easy
And a typical lean small-business site is only a handful of pages — each with one clear job:
| Page | Its one job |
|---|---|
| Home | Make the right visitor say “this is for me” and click |
| Services | Show what you offer and what it costs to start |
| About | Make them trust the human behind it |
| Contact | Make reaching you effortless |
Gather your real details first
Claude will ask for the specifics it can’t invent. Have these in front of you before you paste the prompt and the whole conversation goes twice as fast:
- Your hours and, where relevant, your prices or starting rates
- Your list of services, in the words you actually use
- Real testimonials or reviews — with permission to use them
- Your phone, email, and address (or service area)
- Any photos you own — of your space, your team, your work
Paste this into Claude Code
Plan your website
Let's do Stage 2 — my website architecture and copy. Please follow your web-architecture skill, using my brand-strategy.md: 1. Recommend the pages I need (keep it lean) and each page's one job — confirm with me. 2. Map my homepage and every internal page section by section. For each section, write the real, final copy in my brand voice (no placeholder text) and add simple design instructions for how it should look. 3. Ask me for any real details you need — hours, prices, testimonials, contact info — instead of inventing them. 4. Save it all into a site-architecture.md file, save a snapshot, and give me a plain-language summary.
What to expect
- Claude proposes your pages and confirms them with you.
- It maps each page section by section, with finished copy and design notes.
- It asks you for the real specifics it needs (don’t let it guess your hours or prices).
- It writes
site-architecture.mdand saves a snapshot.
When Claude shows you the copy, read it like a customer would. If anything sounds stiff or off, say so — “make the About section warmer,” “shorten the hero headline.” It’s much easier to perfect the words now, in the plan, than after the site is built.
You now have your two foundation documents: brand-strategy.md and site-architecture.md. Together they’re a complete blueprint. Time to let Claude build the actual website.
Feeling like there’s a lot of copy to review? You don’t have to perfect every word now — get it close. You’ll see it all on the real site next module and can refine it live.
Grade the site you're replacing.
Three minutes in the free Website Conversion Grader tells you exactly what your old site was getting wrong — and what your new one has to get right.
